Being outdoors opens up a whole new point of view for life. The outdoors can help one’s mind destress and relax.
The fresh air that nature provides is known to provide healing powers, in some ways. It has “Nature gives us a sense that we are part of something greater than ourselves. It can get us out of our own heads” (McLean). Being outdoors at least once a day can help our bodies and minds refocus. Having “time in the outdoors offers the benefit of mental rest and rejuvenation, it has been shown to improve memory, attention, impulse control, and creativity in the general population. For example, in children, it has led to improved school performance” (McLean).
Being outdoors means somehow or someway you are getting exercise, whether you’re walking, running, or jogging. It has been proven that “in just five minutes of green exercise, study participants reported improvements in self-esteem and mood, regardless of their health status, gender, or age” (McLean). Nature was provided for us to go out and enjoy, relax, and maybe exercise. All of which help in different ways with mental health, such as anxiety or depression. Going outdoors is something that is really important and beneficial for one’s life.
